By the way, New Jersey has the highest property taxes in America, according to an article from Go Banking Rates. Following New Jersey is Illinois at number two and New Hampshire at number three.

Now when it comes to New Jersey, in a Patch report, the town with the highest average property tax is in Camden County. Tavistock Borough with average tax bills of $30,328 …. Wow that’s huge! Feel any better about your tax bill?

Number two on our list is in Essex County…Millburn Township $24,370. Third highest in New Jersey is Mountain Lakes Borough in Morris County $21,625. Coming in at number four is Tenafly Borough in Bergen County $21,552. Finally rounding out our Top 5 is Demarest Borough in Bergen County $21,377.

Here in Ocean County … Mantoloking has the highest property taxes $19,304. In Monmouth County it’s Rumson $21,153 and in Burlington County it’s Moorestown $11,902.

So after seeing some of the property tax numbers above, how do you feel about yours? Are you feeling better or worse? Property taxes are always an issue here in New Jersey and being the highest in the nation doesn’t help make you feel any better. I will say not every town has huge bills, but ones that do are high and probably bump the average up.
