Not content to let over a year of positive momentum be derailed by Hurricane Sandy, Atlantic City is documenting its recovery and welcoming visitors back by launching a new blog called "Can-Do AC."

The blog focuses equally on recovery and the community says Atlantic City Alliance Director Liza Cartmell. She notes the Atlantic City's various tourism offerings employ thousands of people and the blog's goal is to give them a voice in letting the rest of the state (and country) know that AC's spirit is far from done.

Additionally, Cartmell says they want potential visitors to know that Atlantic City is open for business.

"The community depends on this business for their livelihoods. This is a tourism driven marketplace, and we were lucky to the degree that our tourism assets were really not damaged."

The blog format was chosen because it allows everyone; ACA employees, hotel and casino staff, and residents, a chance to express themselves and give the world updates on their city.

"It just gives people an outlet, that they may not have directly to express something positive because in the midst of all of this trauma and depressing situation for so many people there's always an opportunity in the human spirit to find the good."

Cartmell notes AC businesses have millions of people that they keep in regular communication with through social media, and the blog will give them one more avenue to deliver photos, news, and other content from the businesses and the people to show they are up and running.

The ACA head says these kinds of natural disasters bring out a lot of emotion from people and it's important to connect to that.
