Last weekend was the second leg of Meridian's Heart and Sole Cup series of 5K races at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, and I was thrilled to participate, and even more thrilled to finish!

It wasn't easy, though. I remember thinking to myself at one point as I was running that I didn't know Holmdel had mountains!. Ok, they were only hills, but a mile into the run, they might have been the Rockies as far as I was concerned!

I actually turned to a guy next to me when I first saw the "uphill" and said, "That's not us is it"? When he nodded yes, I knew I was in for a challenging morning. But I took a deep breath and did it.

Turns out I actually did pretty well, shaving a minute off my personal best, finishing in 33:45, which isn't bad eight months after my heart attack! I can't wait to run in the third 5k in the series at Jersey Shore University Medical Center Sunday September 14th!

Congrats to all my fellow runners for your accomplishment at Bayshore Community Hospital!

Remember, if you're a runner, or even if you're not, you don't want to miss the Insane Inflatable 5k taking place on the beach in Seaside Park on Saturday, September 6th. I will be there and I hope you will two. Get some friends together and enjoy a fun day you'll never forget! Get all the details on the Insane Inflatable 5k here.
