The kids are settling into their new classrooms and gearing up for another school year. Many parents think they may be past the back to school rush, but one Monmouth county mother got a school supply list that would make most jaws drop.

Ah, Facebook...you divide us again. Nope, I'm not talking Syria, mumps, or marriage equality. I'm talking the parents vs. the non-parents at school time.

As New Jersey students head back to school, the safety experts are reminding students, parents and motorists to be safe on the road and on the streets now that kids are back in the classroom.

Reading, writing, 'rithmetic... It's about that time again, and while parents may be ever-so-slightly happy to see the kids get back on the bus, they likely aren't thrilled at the dent it puts in their wallets!

Parents are not the only ones doing back to school shopping, teachers are also hitting the stores to buy supplies for their classrooms, and paying largely out of their own pocket.

Saying the first day of school was not my favorite day growing up would be an extremely large understatement. It was the day I dreaded from the first minute summer vacation started.

As students across New Jersey and the rest of the nation plan to head back to school over the next month, spending on items to mark the occasion is expected to be substantially lower.

I was never a big fan of back to school. The mere mention of September gave me a stomach ache. I still get queasy when leaves crunch under my shoes.  I also get sad when I see marble notebooks.
