Sooo I was at Martell's in Point Pleasant Beach for Tiki Monday...HAHA! You know it's going to be an interesting story when that's the opening sentence.
While some food establishments are used to having outdoor dining in the summer (in addition to indoor dining) they are facing some challenges right now as are the typically indoor venues that are now getting creative to keep their business open.
Martell's Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant Beach agrees to pay a $500,000 fine and undergo a 30-day liquor license suspension, in settlement of an inebriated woman's death in a car crash that seriously injured the other driver in 2013.
Businesses and homes weren't the only places damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
A lot of local schools were destroyed and need help to get everything back together for our kids.
Since the story broke, I've been very vocal about the cons of the early alcohol ban in Point Pleasant Beach. Tonight it seems the town and the businesses in Point Beach have reached what's being called a "compromise."
Well, it passed. The ordinance restricting the sale of alcohol at bars and restaurants after midnight in Point Pleasant Beach goes into effect July 1.
What about the second ordinance that would allow bars to pay to stay open until 2 a.m.?
