We are wrapping up 2020 by highlighting our frontline workers and giving them the recognition they deserve.

It's time to vote for the best volunteer at the Jersey Shore.

Here are the submissions we received.

Mike Lorenson Jr. - Middletown volunteer firefighter

Mike's wife Rebecca nominated him saying:

He has been serving the Township of Middletown since 1992 as a Volunteer firefighter. He is a volunteer member of Middletown Fire Company No. 1. Middletown Township Special Services Rescue Unit, Middletown Fire Police, and an EMT with The Middletown Township First Aid and Rescue Squad. When it significantly snows he goes out on his own with our boys shoveling hydrants and in the spring and fall he volunteers as a youth rugby coach for the Jersey Shore Youth Rugby Club. Additionally, my husband has also served as a den leader and instructor for the Boy Scouts Of America teaching kids kindness, how to be clean in their outdoor manners, be reverent, to help others, and teaching Adults Basic Outdoor Leadership Skills in a course known as B.A.L.O.O which he has taught for many years with much success. Lastly, my husband also volunteers with the Local VFW post and in the Auxiliary he serves as a member of he has taken great pride in seeing that the Children of the National Home are well taken care of during the Holidays. These are just a few of the many reasons why I believe my husband Mike Lorenson Jr. Is deserving of this great award. He not only finds it in his heart to not only take care of our children but to selflessly reach out to strangers in need both locally and nationally to see they are well taken care of.

Waretown Volunteer First Aid Squad

Trista Kane made this nomination, saying:

I would like to nominate all of the members of the Waretown Volunteer First Aid Squad. I see, first hand, what it takes to be a Volunteer in EMS. They don't do it for the recognition, they do it because they truly care about our community. It has been extra stressful with Covid, but these members go above and beyond to help where they can. They are part of my family and I am so thankful for every single one of these volunteers, and I know my town is thankful for them as well. So, unfortunately, I can't nominate just one person, I nominate every volunteer on our First Aid Squad.

Jain Miller - The Porch - Howell

Nominated by Nancy Krongold.

Cori Shuey - All Fur One Pet Rescue and Adoptions - Toms River

Nominated by Danielle Mario.
