BARNEGAT — A foot chase ensued after officers confronted three juveniles pulling on car door handles, according to the Barnegat Township Police Department.

In the early morning hours on Saturday, November 23rd, officers responded to the area of Cannonball Drive after a resident called to report seeing "several" juveniles pulling on car door handles.

When the initial officers arrived in the area, they immediately found three minors; two 17-year-old males, and one 14-year-old male.

One 17-year-old and the 14-year-old ran from the responding officers upon their arrival, but were not quick enough for the officers and were apprehended after a lengthy foot chase. The remaining juvenile was placed under arrest.

Officers recovered a large amount of stolen property, including cash, iPads, sunglasses, and phone chargers.

All three minors were charged with burglary. Their identities are prohibited from being released in accordance with the 1979 Supreme Court ruling Smith v. Daily Mail.

The Barnegat Township Police Department reminds residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
