Compete In The 33rd Annual NJ Sandcastle Contest In Belmar

Who is ready for some competition?

Coming up this week is The 33rd Annual New Jersey Sandcastle Contest! 

It will be taking place on Wednesday, July 17th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the 18th Avenue Beach in Belmar. (The rain date is Thursday, July 18th)

It is free to enter the contest and there are four age available categories: 7 years old and under, 8 to 11 years old, 12 to 15 years old, and 16 years old and up.

You can also choose to compete in the following categories: Camps & Recreation, Family, and Classic Sandcastle.

Awards will be presented at 1:00 PM.

If you don't want to compete, you are always welcome to go and spectate because by the end of the morning, there are hundreds of castles and sculptures to admire.

“We’ve been doing it so long and so many people participate that it’s become an event,” said Frank Sementa, co-owner of D'Jais Bar and Grill in Belmar, the main sponsor of the event. “People plan their vacations around it. It’s a nice day even if you’re not building a sandcastle.”
