A very popular Monmouth County hotspot is ending its run at the end of the month.

I loved the name of this bakery from the day I learned about it nearly ten years ago. Whenever my sweet tooth needs satisfaction, I can always count on one of my favorite master confectioners.

Ten years ago, Sugarush in Red Bank became New Jersey's first cupcake bar. Many thought that concept would last for a month. Clearly, they were wrong.

Sugarush has won multiple awards for "best cupcake" in New Jersey and they even won on Food Network's 'Rewrapped.'

While I was bummed to read on Facebook that they are closing their Front Street store at the end of the month, it's not all bad news.

The cupcake shop posted:

It is with mixed feelings that we announce that we are closing our storefront location in Red Bank, NJ by February 28. We have loved being a part of this community for the past 10 years, celebrating with all the sweet people who have come into our little cupcake shop and into our hearts.

Many stopped reading there are started wondering where they would get their next sugar fix.

Sugarush went on to say:

This past year has been tremendously hard for everyone, and our industry has changed for good and bad. As you may or may not have known, the state of New Jersey has made big strides in allowing home bakers to legally run baking businesses out of their homes. So, we are transitioning from a store-front cupcake shop to an at-home custom catering business. It may seem to some this is a step backward, but we are excited that this opportunity allows us to do what we love and follow some additional dreams of growing our family and expanding our business to online sales.

This is a win-win! Sugarush treats aren't going away, in fact, they are expanding their sweet footprint. Additionally, after ten years of being community leaders, I think it's awesome that the Sugarush Family will be able to continue to do what they do best and fit more family time in.

Sugarush is still taking orders for custom cakes and desserts for your special occasions.

I wish Sugarush all the best in their new endeavor!
