Every time you turn around, there's some new twist in the saga that is COVID, and just when you think it's in the rearview mirror, it smacks you in the face again. Could you imagine how you would feel if you were on the front lines of all of this?

Or could you imagine having a loved one that is the person on the front lines? Someone you love, who means so much to you, putting their own health on the line, again and again, for the benefit of others.

I was thinking about all this when I was getting my booster over at Ocean Medical Center in Brick the other day. As usual, despite all they are up against with the new COVID twist called Omicron, they wore smiles, were very helpful, and eased worried minds.

That's what great nurses do, and that's exactly what the nurses I've dealt with at Hackensack Meridian Health have done time and time again for me. And all our nurses in Monmouth & Ocean Counties are out there every day, even after all the variants and all the curves in the road they've dealt with.

Nurses aren't the only ones, of course, but they are the ones that I want to put in the spotlight today because they deserve it. And if you think the latest variant has been rough on us, imagine what they have to deal with.

And it's not only them. It's also their families, who have to worry about them day in and day out. So, I'm glad we're taking a minute to thank all Monmouth & Ocean County nurses for being there over and over again for us.

Thank you for helping us stay healthy, and please stay healthy yourselves.
