A Bayville man is in the hospital this morning with a broken femur and possible internal injuries following a single-car crash just after midnight on Route 70 in Brick.

Police said that George Francis, 32, was heading westbound near Chambers Bridge Road and Cedar Bridge Avenue when he veered off the road to the right and struck a guard rail which sent him back across the left side of the road and hit a curb and another guard rail which flipped over his vehicle.

Francis was trapped inside and was later pulled from the vehicle by Breton Woods and Pioneer Hose Fire Companies.

Brick Police and Emergency Medical Services along with Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics responded to the scene as well.

Francis was treated at the scene and brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further treatment.

An investigation is being conducted by Ptl. Joe Farnkopf and Ptl. Jay Lampiasi of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information pertaining to the crash is asked to contact Ptl. Farnkopf at (732) 262-1140.
