There's a really great class in Red Bank starting tomorrow (Wednesday evening, March 27th), and it's called "The Couch Potato to 5K" class! It takes place outside, two evenings a week, and before you know it, you'll be a runner!

The Red Bank Recreation department is kicking off its annual Couch Potato to 5K Class this Wednesday night. It's geared to any adult who, regardless of their current physical shape, want to run a 5k race.
The program starts of slowly and easily.  The group will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7PM in Red Bank.  Each week, the group will learn a new aspect of running and the small distance from week 1 will gradually increase further each week until the conclusion of the class (in about 10-12 weeks).
Participants will also be given a small "homework" assignment to be completed on their own each week.
The class is meant to be 100% non-intimidating and all adults are welcome.  This is an enjoyable way to learn the sport of running among friends (or make some new ones!) and get healthy at the same time.
Past participants have gone on to complete hundreds of other races including more 5Ks, half marathons, triathlons, and even marathons!!!  Others have lost tons of weight as well, but the most important thing is that participants learn and enjoy the world of running.
If interested or for more information, please call Red bank Recreation at 732-530-2782 to register.  The cost is $35.
I happen to know Charlie, who runs this program, and he is one of the greatest and most enthusiastic and encouraging people I have met. Everyone feels instantly comfortable around him and he will really support you on your journey to taking this next big step in your life and learn how to become a runner :)
