Matt Ryan is running a survey to determine the best personal trainer/facility at the Jersey Shore, and this amazing woman came out on top for Monmouth County!

Lisa Kavitt (some recognize her as Lisa Flanegan) is a Personal Trainer at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan, where she also holds some group fitness classes. She's been doing this for the past 15 years.

She began by studying nutritional science in college and knew she had found her calling. And the voters agreed. She first advanced to the Elite 8 in the survey out of dozens and dozens of entries and thousands of votes in the "Best Personal Trainer at the Jersey Shore" survey. (Lisa's background includes the following: B.S. Nutritional Science, Rutgers University, AAAI-ISMA Certified Personal Trainer, ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Kettlebell Instructor, ACSM Cancer Exercise Specialist, Pilates mat certification from Personal Best Pilates Academy, TRX Certified.)

Lisa then advanced to the Final 4 and although the winning trainer of the entire shore region will go to a trainer or facility in Ocean County, Lisa Kavitt came out on top for Monmouth County!

I recently had the honor of working with Lisa after years of watching her train others at The Atlantic Club. She is so tiny yet so powerful and full of knowledge and insight. (She's also a mom.)

Lisa says that although some people may believe you only need a trainer if you are a professional athlete, celebrity, or on a major weight-loss journey, this could not be further from the truth. Whether someone hires a trainer for a few sessions or makes a long-term commitment, the value will be immeasurable in the longevity of your health and fitness levels.

A trainer has the education to be able to design a program that is specific to your needs based on your goals, abilities, and limitations, and Lisa is so good at that. She says the goal of every trainer should be to keep their clients accountable with exercise and a healthy lifestyle. In Lisa's words, "It's important that we help individuals set realistic goals and break down those goals in order to make them achievable. This means continually revamping the exercises that are preformed while ensuring that correct form is used to avoid injury."

Lisa currently works with clients ranging in age from 10 to 82 years old! Some have been with her for almost 10 years and have become part of her family.

And working closely with The Atlantic Club's Exercising with Cancer program, Lisa says she has seen people come in at their lowest point with a hard road ahead of them. And, through exercise, they are able to increase their energy and strength and come out on top.

Lisa finds it so amazing what a little movement of the body can do. She'd like to remind us that our bodies were made to move. Sedentary lifestyles are one of the major factors increasing our society's risk of disease and obesity.

If anyone loves the feeling of helping someone reach their goals, it's Lisa. Whether it's learning proper squat technique or training for an endurance event, Lisa will be happy to become the support you need. And the good news is that she is accepting new clients at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan. Fore more info, CLICK HERE.

On a personal note, I first got to train with Lisa while suffering from both a shoulder and ankle injury, so when I saw her I was quite discouraged. Lisa is not only patient and understanding, but she is very creative in the movements she can teach you despite what you might consider obstacles. And she is an excellent teacher. She won't rush through anything. She will make sure you understand what you are doing, the reason you are doing it, and then she will ensure that you are doing it correctly. I have such a huge amount of respect for this wonder woman and her level of commitment and engagement with her clients. This is someone who truly is passionate about what she does and it shows. Thank you, Lisa, for fighting for the greater good in our community by helping to show so many of us the road to wellness.
