South Group 4 - First Round

1-Southern 21, 16-Toms River North 3

Senior attackman Jack Kolbe scored four goals with three assists to reach 100 career goals and lead the defending-champion Rams (13-3) past the Mariners (4-13) and into the quarterfinals.

Kolbe, who is signed to play collegiately at Merrimack, now has 42 goals and 21 assists this season and stands at 101 goals and 43 assists for his career.

Senior defensive midfielder Kole Levy scored his first career goal, as well, to help Southern advance. Senior attackman Ryan Sininsky had a goal and five assists, senior midfielder Jake Washco tallied four goals and one assist and senior midfielder Zach Washco supplied three goals and two assists. Shea Hillie and Joey DeYoung each had two goals and one assist while Konnor Forlai, Liam Griffin, and Hayden Lucas all had one goal and one assist. Noah Keenan added one goal and senior Kurt Falk went 17-for-19 at the face-off X. Tyler Sininsky (4 saves) and Nick Roesch (2 saves) shared time in goal.

Southern will host 8th-seeded Old Bridge in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 10 a.m.

6-Red Bank Catholic 18, 11-Eastern Christian 3

The Caseys (12-8) featured seven different goal scorers and six players who recorded multiple points to defeat East Christian and advance to the Eagles (10-2) and advance to the state quarterfinals.

Sophomore attackman Jackson Lu led the way with four goals and three assists to set a career-high with seven points. Junior midfielder Torin Harmon delivered four goals and one assist, junior middie Connor McGee had two goals and three assists, and senior attackman Ryan Brown had three goals and one assist. Junior midfielder Sam Fertal added two goals and one assist, junior defenseman Nick Cosimano had two goals, one assist, and a career-high 18 ground balls, and senior defenseman Nate Waldron made his way onto the scoresheet with his first career goal. Junior goalie Christian Schrader (7 saves) and sophomore goalie Gianvito Viola (2 saves) both saw time in the cage.

RBC will play at third-seeded Holy Spirit in the state quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 25.
