Drum Point Elementary discovered it had a mold problem over the summer and the district says it's been trying to fix the problem after hours and on weekends.

Still, parents are saying their children are getting sick. One teacher requested and was granted a transfer because of the outbreak.

Many parents want the school closed until the mold problem is resolved, but those days would have to be made up during winter and spring breaks.

Superintendent Walter Uszenski said

I care about the safety of the students and the staff of the district. I will make sure that everyone is safe.

Mold developed at the school over the summer when humidity levels were left too high for too long.
