Monica Murphy needs your cans! She is a Senior at Manasquan High School. And she is once again building a sculpture out of cans that will later be donated to the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Monica is collecting 15 oz. red Chef Boyardee cans (lasagna, ravioli, pasta shells, etc.) for this year's sculpture (her last, since she's graduating in the spring) which will require about 2,000 cans. You can drop them off at the high school during school hours through this Friday (April 19, 2013) and then they start building the scujpture the following Monday.

This year she is building the Barnaget Lighthouse with the help of other students in the Manasquan school district and it is really a lot of fun to see this come to life.

The unveiling will be Tuesday, April 23rd, at 3 p.m. in the Jack Nicholson auditorium (yes he's a former student!) at Manasquan High School and anyone can come out to see it.

After the sculpture is seen and photographed, it will be disassembled and all of those cans go to help those in need through the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

It's a wonderful project and Monica has become a great role-model for our community. We'll miss her when she goes off to college!
