Chaplain from Asbury Park heads to detention hearing following arrest for luring
A Chaplain from Asbury Park will have a detention hearing on Thursday following his arrest for luring and endangering the welfare of a child, Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni announced on Tuesday.
Edgar Finol-Carrillo, 64, allegedly approached a minor and gave her a letter with intent on luring her to his residence so they could engage in sexual activity.
In turn, the girl contacted the Asbury Park Police Department and they arrested Finol-Carrillo who is now being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
The investigation into the letter and luring was conducted jointly by Asbury Park Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
The case isn't over as investigators are looking for additional information about Finol-Carrillo’s recent activities.

If convicted, Finol-Carrillo is facing up to 10 years imprisonment on the Luring charge and up to 5 years imprisonment on the Endangering the Welfare of a Child charge.
He would also be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and required to register under Megan’s Law.
The case is assigned to Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Danielle Zanzuccki.
