A traffic management plan is announced in advance of this Sunday’s Haskell Invitational at the Monmouth Park Racetrack in Ocean Port. The State Department of Transportation says there will be highway lane closures and ramp restrictions to and from the racetrack, as well as through out the community and neighboring towns.

As part of the plan, Oceanport Avenue, between Port Au Peck Avenue and the Main Gate of Monmouth Park, will be closed to all vehicle traffic to provide a safe corridor for pedestrians.

The Route 36 north and southbound left turn-lanes at Oceanport Avenue and the Route 36 northbound right lane by the race track exit gate are expected to be closed to traffic at 6 p.m.

Port Au Peck Avenue could be closed to through traffic between Myrtle Avenue and East Main Street from approximately 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

State officials say Dynamic message signs will be utilized to provide traffic information and updates to motorists on the major local highways and the Garden State Parkway.

NJ Transit is running regular Monmouth Park Service from attendees looking for an alternate means of getting to the park.

You can also get traffic information from the NJDOT’s website www.511nj.org and telephone service 511 will feature regular updates on travel conditions around the Monmouth Park area.

The NJDOT says it coordinated the comprehensive traffic plan with law enforcement officials from Oceanport, West Long Branch, Eatontown and Tinton Falls as well as the NJ State Police.
