David Burke Fromagerie Closed

October 5th was a sad day for Jersey Shore foodies, as word spread that an amazing local restaurant had unexpectedly shut its doors.

David Burke Fromagerie in Rumson, the amazing upscale eatery tucked away on Ridge Rd. is no more.

It was announced last year that celebrity chef David Burke would 'take a backseat' in his company, but would remain an active owner.

A letter was sent by email to patrons last night, and is also posted on the restaurant's website, notifying devastated Fromagerie fans that the restaurant would be sold.

They add that they "look forward to passing on [Fromagerie's] legacy to the buyer who will carry that on."

That does leave a glimmer of hope that it will reopen, but I don't think it will ever have the same feel since it was purchased by the David Burke Group in 2006. (And those amazing popovers will almost certainly be gone...)

To say I'm bummed is an understatement...it was an amazing place to dine!
