New Jersey is not known for earthquakes, but the one many of us experienced in early April of 2024 is something we won't soon forget.

How Many Earthquakes Does New Jersey Get?

For a brief moment, we had a slight indication of the tension a quake causes, and we can't even imagine what people in places like California deal with during more frequent and stronger quakes.

That April 5th earthquake was centered 8.2 miles from Bridgewater and registered 4.8 on the Richter scale, according to Volcano Discovery.

It was, by far the most intense quake New Jersey felt in 2024, but it certainly wasn't the only one.

New Jersey Experienced A Larger Than Normal Earthquake In 2024

New Jersey experienced 17 different earthquakes in 2024 with a magnitude between 2.0 and 3.0.

We also had one earthquake in late June which registered a 3.4, and was reported by hundreds of people.

In all, New Jersey had 19 earthquakes in 2024 which registered between 2.0 and the 4.8 quake that hit on April 5th.
