Elton John’s Farewell Tour Hits MetLife Stadium in New Jersey
It’s pretty safe to say that when it comes to musical icons, Elton John would probably make that list. For over 50 years now Sir Elton John has written some of the most known songs in contemporary music. His library was on full display this past weekend as he said goodbye New Jersey.
Thousands were on hand this past weekend on a hot July weekend for two final shows by Elton and his band here in the Garden State. Amazing how 75 year old John performed for nearly 2 hours in 90 plus degree weather. His band as well did an amazing job on a very hot night in East Rutherford New Jersey.
From Bennie and the Jets to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton filled the night with some of his best known songs and splashed in a few classics that he was fond of along the way during his 50 year career.
Elton’s voice was amazing. No he didn’t jump up on the piano, but he gave us the songs with strength and stamina, not bad for a rocker heading towards 80.
Elton thanked New Jersey for years of shows and he even gave a shout-out to the Jersey Shore as he mentioned visiting Asbury Park and Wildwood. Fans cheered as he gave props to Jersey. Elton also thanked fans for all the loyalty and for all the fun costumes and glasses over the years. Many, including ourselves, had Elton glasses on for the night and some even did final costumes. It was a fun night and a great crowd to enjoy it with.
Sad to see Elton say goodbye and I know he has said that before lol but I think this time Elton is ready to enjoy his family and enjoy chilling at home, well done Reggie and thanks for the music.
