An investigation is underway into a fire that torched a home on Monroe Avenue in the Whiting section of Manchester Township on Thursday morning.

Manchester Police responded around 7:04 am to the sight of smoke and flames rising from the roof of a now detached garage.

Fortunately, nobody was inside the garage and adjacent home at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries reported on the scene.

It's not yet known what caused the fire at this point but investigators are looking into whether electrical malfunctions in the garage is the root cause.

Manchester Police and the Ocean County Fire Marshall's Office are investigating the fire.

Several units joined Manchester Police at the sight of the fire Thursday from the Manchester Fire Department, Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Joint Base, Forked River Volunteer Fire Department, Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Department, Berkeley Fire to the Plumsted Fire Department who assisted in putting out the fire while Manchester Township Emergency Medical Services to assess any potential injuries.
