No more than a few days ago, Matt Ryan told you that Freehold Raceway Mall had big plans for that old Sears building.

The original announcement was that FRM was HOPING to build a Round1 Bowling and Amusement in Sears' old building. According to Matt Ryan, "it is like Dave & Busters on steroids."

We are talking bowling, an arcade, table tennis, basketball, a bar and a food area. Sounds like my kind of fun.

Well don't get too excited.

The proposal for this new adult play area got rejected by the township Planning Board.

The reasoning?

According to APP.com, "The proposal is 'too intensive for the proposed location,' said Planning Board Chairman A. Richard Gatto . 'It also deviates from the definition of an anchor store in the mall's general development plan, including hours of operation and other factors.'"

Weird hours? The proposed hours for Round1 were going to be 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week. Maybe it is because that would be way too late?

Representatives of Freehold Raceway Mall have already made a statement and are not hiding the fact that like the rest of us, they are truly disappointed this plan didn't work out.

"We have enjoyed a history of working with our township to deliver on a vision of success for Freehold," said Frank Lucia, senior property manager at Freehold Raceway Mall. "We look forward to this continuing as we identify creative new and non-traditional uses to bring to the center."

But now we have another problem: WHO ON EARTH IS GOING TO REPLACE SEARS THAT WAS AT FREEHOLD RACEWAY MALL?!
