TOMS RIVER – Friends of the Toms River teenager that was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday has set up a donation page to help the family with hospital and funeral expenses.

Christian Atehortua, 18, lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected around 8:10pm on Schenks Mill Line Road and Darren Street, police spokeswoman Jillian Messina said.

Atehortua, a football player at Toms River High School North, was apart of the 2019 graduating class and was just weeks away from receiving his diploma.

Friends of the Atehortua family have set up a GoFundMe page that currently has over $8,000 raised to offset expenses.

The GoFundMe listed Michael Ruiz as the organizer and says, “He was loved by all of his friends and peers and lived his life to the fullest.”

The post goes on to say that Atehortua was always happy and had a positive outlook on everything, “We as his friends and as a community would like to help the family with funeral and medical expenses.”
