
The Hardest Working States in America: Where Does New Jersey Rank?
We work hard here in New Jersey, often battling a long and stressful commute.
The daily grind often includes aggressive drivers and traffic jams that could leave you sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic for close to an hour.

Also, with it being so expensive in this state, many New Jerseyans work two and sometimes even three jobs just to make ends meet.
So when WalletHub released a study on the hardest-working states in America, I thought for sure that New Jersey would rank close to the top.
But surprisingly, that wasn't the case.
In fact, it was the total opposite. The Garden State actually landed much closer to the bottom of the list.

The study took into consideration average workweek hours, employment rate, unused vacation time, multiple jobholders, volunteer hours, and daily leisure time.
The hardest-working states in America include:
North Dakota was named the hardest-working state, followed by Alaska and South Dakota.
Michigan was considered the least hard-working state in America, but where did New Jersey land on the list?
It turns out all those long hours on the road and multiple jobs didn't really translate to a solid work ethic here in New Jersey.
