Spokesman Justin Edelman said in a statement early Tuesday that Long Branch police have concluded their investigation and that "nothing was found in the hospital or on the campus." He says a verbal threat had been made.

The lockdown began late Monday at the 337-bed facility.

The Asbury Park Press reported that police were investigating a report of an explosive device brought into the emergency room. The newspaper says officers using K9 dogs searched the hospital and its grounds.
