I Tested New Jersey’s Politeness And Here’s What Happened
Over the past few weeks, I've conducted a clandestine, informal study to see how polite the people of New Jersey really are. I have the results.
How Polite Are New Jersey Residents?
It all started when I was walking out of the Ocean County Mall one day, and held the door open for a woman.
She was shopping alone, and I wanted to be a nice guy. She was so appreciative, you'd have thought I handed her a winning lottery ticket.
I surmised that the only reason she reacted that way was that someone holding a door for her was a rarity.
Does New Jersey Pass The Politeness Test?
I decided at that moment that I would hold the door open for someone every opportunity I got, and keep count of how many said thank you. Let's see how polite New Jersey residents are.

I am at Wawa every day, and I am frequently at Wal-Mart and Target, and often at QuickChek, so the numbers started to build up quickly.
I simply counted any acknowledgement of my door-holding as a polite person, and anyone who didn't as impolite.
The Results Of The New Jersey Politeness Test
The impolite category contained a lot of New Jersey residents on the phone, and that shouldn't surprise anyone.

After reaching the 100 door-opening encounters, the results are in, and I am pleasantly surprised, and I think you will be, too.
86% of the people I held the door for had some degree of a pleasant response to me. Ten people were on the phone, and the other 4 completely ignored me, as if I worked for them.
I am thrilled with these results and proud of New Jersey residents for these results. Maybe happy people are in love, so you need to check out some of New Jersey's most romantic restaurants
