Howell K-Mart Closing After 30 Years

A staple on Route 9 in Howell for nearly 30 years is closing its doors in October.

K-Mart will be closing in October. The company sites cost cutting and customers say the Big K just couldn't keep up with the competition.

The company has been suffering as a whole with sales down 4.6% nationwide in the first quarter and 13 store closings.

On a positive note, great sales and liquidation specials started Sunday and the store's 57 employees can apply at other K-Mart and Sears stores.

The Howell K-Mart first opened in October 1983.
