Forked River woman in critical condition following head-on collision in Manchester, NJ
An investigation continues into a two car accident along Route 530 near Lacey Road in Manchester Township on Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 pm leaving a Forked River woman in critical condition.
Manchester Police said that Nicholas Briggs, 25, of Whiting was heading west in a Dodge Magnum on Route 530 when he suddenly crossed over the center line and ended up colliding head-on with the front driver side of the vehicle being driven by Jorie Sanzone, 61, of Forked River who was in a Toyota Rav 4 at the time of the crash.
Police said that both vehicles in the crash sustained some extensive damage to their front end on the driver side.
Briggs was uninjured in the crash, police said, but he was brought over to Community Medical Center in Toms River "for precautionary reasons due to the seriousness of the collision."
Sanzone needed to be extricated from her vehicle, police said, as she suffered possible internal injuries.
She is currently listed as being in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Manchester Police said that while the investigation is ongoing, the failure of Briggs to stay in his lane is believed to be the main factor.
