An investigation is in the infancy stages after a shooting in broad daylight on Thursday afternoon between Ridge and Springwood Avenues in Asbury Park.

What we know so far about shooting in Asbury Park

Asbury Park Police were first to the scene around 2:15 pm on Thursday afternoon and once there, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago.

The male victim was brought over to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City where he was pronounced dead by 2:45 pm.

Witnesses sought in Asbury Park homicide investigation

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau and Asbury Park Police are teaming up on the investigation into the fatal shooting that claimed a man's life.
