This Spectacular NASA Rocket Launch Will Be Visible in New Jersey on Thursday
Update: the NASA rocket launch has been postponed till Thursday, December 15th.
You won't want to miss this.
It's not every day you can catch a NASA rocket launch, especially in New Jersey. In fact, the two times I saw a rocket launch, I was in Florida.
There's actually a funny story about one of them. We were in Disney World for our senior trip in high school, and my friend went to the bathroom. A rocket launch happened while she was inside, and everyone applauded once it was done, which timed out to be when she walked out of the bathroom. My friend thought the entire park was clapping for her exiting the bathroom!
I digress.
There is a NASA launch happening Thursday, December 15th (it was moved from Friday the 9th, and Tuesday the 13th). According to NJ.com, even though the launch will happen in Virginia, you could be able to see it in New Jersey.
If you don't have anything going on tomorrow night, you should definitely check out the NASA launch, especially if you have kids. I was around 4 years old when I saw my first rocket launch, and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever.
NASA is launching an electron rocket, and since I'm not a rocket scientist, I had to research what that meant. Admittedly, I was still confused after reading about the mission on RocketLab's website. Overall, it seems like the rocket is launching to gather data about radio frequencies.
How can you watch the NASA Electron Rocket launch in NJ?
Per NJ.com, there are a lot of variables to keep in mind when planning to watch the launch. First, the weather has to be clear (which looks good so far). Second, the rocket launch is scheduled from 6 pm - 8 pm, which is a pretty big window of time, so you'll want to be prepared. And finally, when the rocket does launch, you'll only have from one to two minutes to catch it.
I promise, all the prep is worth it!
If you'd rather catch the launch from the couch, you can watch it on a livestream from Rocket Lab's website.
