Winter has been a seriously tough one this year here in New Jersey with very bitter cold, snow, ice, and grey days. Even snow lovers admit that spring will be a welcome sight as we come out of the dark days of winter.

We just "sprung ahead." Days will have more sunlight, St. Patrick's Day is less than 10 days away, and baseball is returning. So it's not hard to see why cases of spring fever could be on the rise here in the Garden State.

Memorial Day 2026 lands on Monday, May 25. From today, March 8, that’s just 77 days away. Summer vibes are coming fast. Get ready for that long weekend!

What is Spring Fever?

You know that feeling in spring when you suddenly wake up buzzing with energy? That’s spring fever.

It’s not a real sickness. No thermometer needed.

Winter’s been long, cold, and dark. Then spring brings more sunshine. Your body reacts: less sleepy hormone (melatonin), more happy hormone (serotonin). Boom—you feel awake, restless, and ready to move.

You might want to run outside, clean everything, or just smile at strangers. Some people get distracted and can’t focus.

It’s your brain and body yelling, “Winter’s over, let’s go!”

Enjoy it. It’s the best part of spring.

When Does Spring Officially Arrive In New Jersey?

This week, we are looking at possibly hitting temps near 70! That definitely feels like spring. According to weather.com, this nice weather will tease us a bit this week.

Not a bad start to the week. How long will it last? Maybe through Thursday? Hey, it's a start lol
