Point Pleasant police have arrested a Jackson resident on charges related to multiple burglaries in the borough including the heist of several firearms from a single residence.

Home burglaries in Point Pleasant Borough

Police received calls on Monday about burglaries at several residences in the Bay Head Shores section.

Police said that one person was responsible for all of the reported burglaries.

While officers were patrolling the borough, they spotted a man they said matched the description of the suspect they were looking for amid the investigation.

Suspect arrested from Point Pleasant home burglaries

John Cottrell, 46, of Jackson, was found in possession of evidence linking him to the home burglaries in the area, police said.

He was then arrested on charges of multiple counts of burglary and other offenses.

Police said that the firearms that were stolen amid the burglaries were later returned to their owner.

NJ arrests 31 accused child predators in Operation 24/7

A roundup of 31 men have been accused of sexually exploiting children online, state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal announced on July 14 while detailing "Operation 24/7."

The suspects “possessed and or distributed videos and images of child sexual abuse, including in many cases videos of young children being raped by adults,” Grewal said.
