Exploding Propane Tanks Fueled Buena Mobile Home Fire
A mobile home fire at a campground in Buena Vista on Saturday night destroyed the home and a pickup truck parked close by.
Mobile Home Fire in Buena Vista
The Richland Volunteer Fire Department reported receiving a call about the fire from a neighbor at Buena Vista Campground, 775 Harding Highway, at about 7 pm on Saturday.
By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, the mobile home and the pickup truck were engulfed in flames.
The fire crews were able to get the fire under control quickly, but there wasn't much left of the home but rubble afterwards.
No one was home at the time of the mobile home fire, and no one was injured during the fire, officials said.
Propane Tanks Complicated Fire Situation
Several propane tanks next to the mobile home caught fire and complicated the firefighting efforts.
Fire crews were kept at a distance while the propane tanks burned, with several tanks exploding, Richland Volunteer Fire Department Chief Anthony Monfredo told NBC 10 News.
Monfredo said they kept the fire units at a distance and hit the burning propane tanks with large attack lines, which extinguished them.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.
