A woman from Camden County, New Jersey who got into an accident on the Atlantic City Expressway over the weekend sustained fatal injuries, police report.

A tragic chain of events occurred Sunday evening on the AC Expressway near Winslow Township when at approximately 10:30 p.m. a female driver travelling westbound hit a disabled Honda sedan. No one was in that car at the time of the crash.

According to Patch.com, the driver of the impacting vehicle has reportedly been identified as 37-year-old Ashley Pitts of Camden, New Jersey.

Pitts was behind the wheel of a Nissan SUV when it overturned and ejected her from the vehicle. She did not survive.

A police investigation reportedly remains active.
