It was a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to the Burlington County Prosecutors Office High-Tech Crimes Unit that led to the arrest of a Marlton man for possession of child porn.

This is where the investigation began as the NCMEC picked up on the lewd activities of 53-year old Kevin Gaffney, who has now been charged with possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Evesham Township Acting Police Chief Walter Miller announced on Thursday.

Gaffney, who lives on the first block of Marlborough Avenue, was also charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Third Degree), and then lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly following his arrest, pending his first appearance in Superior Court, which occured on Thursday.

Investigators learned after getting the tip on Gaffney's activity, that the kept child sexual abuse materials on an external drive and used an online data storage system to hold on to those files.

Law enforcement seized the drives upon Gaffney's arrest and execution of a search warrant at his home.

Te BCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit was joined in the investigation by Evesham Township Police, the United States Homeland Security Investigations – Cherry Hill Office, and the New Jersey State Police.

Gaffney will be prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Weiler.
