New Jersey Dense with Gamblers, Smokers, and Alcoholics, According to New Study
From smoking to gambling, New Jersey apparently has a lot of vices. In fact, we're Top 5 in the whole United States for having bad habits, according to a new study.
A publication called Best Life put together an index of the most common bad habits in America, also using caffeine use, alcohol consumption, and lust as criteria.
Best of Life enlisted resources from WalletHub and Centers for Disease Control to compile data to create a list about vices in America.
For example, WalletHub listed states gambling habits, from the least problematic to the most problematic, accounting for addiction and treatment. Best Life even determined how much coffee and caffeine-infused drinks (think Monster) we rely on to stay moving and motivated.
When all was said and done, New Jersey ranked as one of the states with the most vices, coming in at #5, bested only by California, Texas, Hawaii, and Illinois, which came out on top.
So just how bleak is it the news?
According to the WalletHub data, Jersey ranked 7th for gambling problem and 24th in the nation for being lusty. Just over 13 percent of adults in the Garden State are smokers, according to Best Life's study, 17 percent are binge drinkers, and 13.4 percent of adults consume pre-made coffee products.
The state with the least amount of bad habits was found to be Utah. Just above the Beehive State was Connecticut, New Mexico, Vermont, and Rhode Island.
