According to NJ.gov only licensed Atlantic City casinos, licensed race tracks, legalized games of chance, and the New Jersey Lottery may operate and or offer gambling in the Garden State. But why?

There are two reasons why this Jersey Shore casino boat topic popped into my head. First, I was hanging out on the couch watching television and I must have counted 5 online gambling commercials within an hour. This is the world we live in. Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, everyone can agree it is now very difficult to hide from the temptation of gambling. The second reason for this article is because I have been on a casino boat before. Maybe you have to? My experience on The Big "M" in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was exciting but I did lose $500. I lost my money in the first 45 minutes... the boat ride was 5 hours! The roulette wheel gave me nightmares that night, IT WAS A TOTAL MESS! Anyway, what about a casino boat at the Jersey Shore in Monmouth and Ocean County? Good idea or bad idea? I did some research and I am honestly shocked there isn't a casino boat nearby. The River Queen is docked in Brielle and The River Lady is located in Toms River. However, you can't gamble on those ships. Is that something we will see in the future? As we know, New Jersey's gambling laws are among the least restrictive in the United States. In 2013, New Jersey began to allow in-state online gambling, and recently the state won a lawsuit that dismantled Nevada's monopoly on legal sports betting. Is a casino boat the next step for New Jersey gambling?

Now, in South Carolina gambling is illegal so The Big M ship had to travel 3 miles off the coast into international waters. The gambling laws are a lot different in New Jersey compared to South Carolina so could this be something we see at the Jersey Shore soon? It may bring more jobs and entertainment for the community but is more gambling something we need right now in New Jersey? Let's make a bet! What are the odds of a casino boat coming to the Jersey Shore? Share the article and comment with your opinion!
