According to Zippia, when it comes to the list of the smelliest states in America, the good news is that New Jersey is not the smelliest.
The rest of the news from this report is not the best for residents of the Garden State. The study was reported at Zippia, and, not surprisingly, New Jersey is one of the top ten smelliest states.

The study took into account things like clean air, the percentage of each state that is a landfill, population, and even dental health.

New Jersey's landfills represent .042% of our land, and while that may seem small, it's the highest percentage in the country.
When all the data was crunched, the Garden State ranked as the 7th smelliest state in America.

We breathe a sigh of relief (no pun intended) to not be America's smelliest state, but that begs the question of which one is?

That honor belongs to the poor folks in Maryland, but we thank them and the other 5 states, Alabama, Massachusetts, Delaware, Florida, and California, for smelling worse than we do.
