Our Point Pet of the Week is now alone at the shelter and doesn't understand why. She's the dog on the left in this photo. She literally lost her best friend.

The Monmouth County SPCA was hoping beyond hope that sweet Princess, who was given up to the shelter, would be adopted with her best friend Duke. I was praying for the same thing.

Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. Duke went to a new home on Monday, leaving Princess behind. It is very stressful for dogs who grew up together to be separated, especially after being abandoned by their human family and finding themselves in a shelter environment.

The MCSPCA couldn't be a more caring, loving group of workers and volunteers, but it still breaks their heart to see Princess alone and not understanding why.

Won't someone please show this German Shepherd that she is good enough and loved enough to have her forever home, too?

Princess is 80 lbs and 4-years old. She is sweet, playful, and smart. She loves long walks. Although she is a little shy at first, once she warms up to you she will be your friend for life.
