Six high school performers have been voted as audience favorites and awarded scholarship money as the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal celebrates their talent!

These bright lights are students right here in our community who are so talented yet were unable to perform in their spring musicals in person this year due to the Covid-19 shutdown.
The Axelrod held the inaugural NJ High School AXE Awards this past spring, spearheaded by Axelrod Artistic Director Andrew DePrisco. And now we get to shine a light on the winners!

72 students from 32 high schools throughout Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex counties took part, and a panel of theater professionals selected the finalists in each of six categories. Then online voting took place over two weeks with over 5,000 ballots.

Four winning seniors were awarded $1000, and a top male and female underclassman each received $500. The award money provided by Cabaret for Life was in memory of Amy Fredericks, a local music director and teacher who frequently volunteered there.

So here are the winners!
