New Stimulus Packages Includes $600 Checks For Adults & Kids
I feel like we have been talking about the possibility of an additional Stimulus Package being sent out for months now.
All of our government officials have been having a lot of trouble making a decision.
We do have some new components for the upcoming package but unlike many others that have been proposed...it is looking like this one is a go.
Here is what we are being told this time around:
This time around, adults will be receiving a stimulus of $600 per person instead of $1,200....I know, womp womp.
And according to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, residents can start to see the money transferred to this account as soon as this week.
"The good news is this is a very, very fast way of getting money into the economy. Let me emphasize: People are going to see this money at the beginning of next week," said Mnuchin on CNBC.
In order to be eligible, you must make $75,000 or less as an independent and for couples, you can only earn up to $150,000 as a whole.
If you are someone -- whether you file as an independent or as a couple -- who makes more than the amounts listed above, the stimulus amount sent to you will be reduced by $5.00 for every $100 of income earned.
Stimulus checks will be phased out for singles who earn more than $87,000 and for married couples who earn more than $174,000.
However, parents will benefit this time around. Each dependent under 17 years old will result in an additional $600 in stimulus relief as opposed to the original $500 that was sent out the first time around.
This means that older high school students and college students are not eligible unfortunately. Seniors who were filed as dependents are also not eligible.
This is not the only help on the way.
Those who are unemployed due to COVID-19 related reasons will receive an additional $300 per week on top of their unemployment benefits. This will last through March 14th, 2021.
There are a lot of unique situations that come into play with a package like this. For example, if you receive social security or if you are a small business looking for a loan.
