Thanks to the Global Space Education Foundation, this is totally possible thanks to their Story Time in Space feature. And yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.

Astronauts who are up in space for various reasons read popular children's books while floating about. These videos are edited before being shared with your kids here on Earth.

“What better role models to engage kids in science and to engage them in reading?” said Patricia Tribe, who actually came up with this cool, new concept. “You’re not only looking and listening to the books, you’re looking around the International Space Station.”

Tribe also emphasizes that a wide range of reading levels and stories are chosen for these readings.

To watch some of these cool astronaut readings, head to StoryTimeFromSpace.com and just pick the story you want to hear!

This concept is expanding! Soon, you and your child can watch one of nine simple science experiments that these astronauts conducted from space! These experiments will be specifically geared towards kids and will explore concepts like energy transfer and surface tension.
