Target has announced that it's building a new store in Monmouth County.

The plan is for the new Target to take the place of the now vacant K-Mart at Plaza 35 in Wall. The company has not put forth a timeline for construction or a grand opening as of this writing.

That means 91,000 square-feet of red and white shopping enjoyment.

I'm all about this new Target for a couple of reasons. More job opportunities, it will make the Targets in Ocean Twp. and Brick.

It's awesome to tell you about a store opening instead of closing, which has been the theme lately.

So, how does Target decide where to open up? Here's what they say on their website:

We're always exploring locations for new stores. But how do we decide where to open a new Target next? We look at a number of factors, like how we can best meet a community’s needs, site constraints, other area Target stores, and more. And each step of the way, we work closely with local officials and guests to develop stores that truly make shopping easy, inspiring, and affordable.
