Have you ever just met someone and feel like you know certain things about them? Well, you're not imaging it. There's science to back it up.

Some career experts say someone who just met you can decide if they want to do business with you in a matter of seconds, according to msn.com. And there are many assumptions they make about you right away. Here are some of them.

Whether or not you're smart. Someone you just met will make an assumption about your intelligence based on how much eye contact you make while talking to them.

How aggressive you are. One study says women can determine if men are aggressive by looking at a picture of them for 37 milliseconds.

If you can be trusted or not. Research out of Princeton gave two groups photos of the same actors. One group could look as long as they wanted to, the other group only had 100 milliseconds to check out the picture. The results on whether the person in the photo could be trusted were incredibly similar, suggesting it only takes a split second for us to decide if we trust someone.

Interestingly, there is no mention in the article about how accurate our first impressions are. Sure, we make quick judgements, but are they right? I'd hate to think we're passing up on what could be a good relationship or business partnerships because our first impressions are wrong about people. On the other hand, trusting your gut isn't a bad thing, right?
