LOOK: Potential Tornado Touches Down at the Jersey Shore

At around 3 p.m. on Tuesday a quick, but nasty thunderstorm ripped through Monmouth and Ocean counties leaving thousands without power, and trees and poles down.

Toms River Chief of Police Mitch Little told Townsquare Media that they are investigating a potential tornado touchdown east of the Ocean County Mall in the area of Bay Avenue, Vaughn Avenue, Twin Oaks, and Gilmore Island. Police and fire are on the scene.

Brick was affected with downed poles and trees closing Herbertsville Road between Concord and Andover. Hooper Avenue was also closed between Brick Boulevard and Cedarbridge Avenue.

Nearly 15,000 in Monmouth and Ocean were left without power following the storm.
