We now know the government can't explain some of the lights and objects flying over us in our skies all over the world, but you don't have to travel very far to hear about some unusual things happening overhead. There have been UFO sightings right here over Monmouth & Ocean Counties. And we're not digging way back in the history books to find them.

As a  matter of fact the last 5 sightings over our area have been reported to MUFON in the past 10 weeks.

I started digging in on this when I read Shannon's piece on the reported UFO landing at Double Trouble State Park. That is really interesting stuff to me, so I started digging in to satisfy my curiosity.

And so all I had to do was go back to late summer to compile a list of 5 reported sightings over the skies of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, and believe it or not, one of the reports even comes with a video of the sighting.

Check out these reports from MUFON...

The witness said " Stargazing at about 4am 08/10/21 in pt pleasant beach, nj. scanning the sky to the nw i saw what looked like an unusually bright star. i saw that it was moving from nw to se, angle from me in the sky was approx. 80 degrees, bearing about 310 from true n. it was about as bright as venus only slightly smaller. i observed it moving in a straight line for about 30 seconds when it suddenly shut off."  (No photo/video).

It's hard to imagine with all that detail that it was simply a plane. I just wish there was a photo to back it up.

Witness statement, "Two disc UFO's outside cabin super close up". (No photo/video)

This witness claims to have decided to leave the area, understandably so, but no photo/video evidence makes this a tough one.

Here's part of what Joe witnessed, " it appears to be a brighter than normal star that seems to be twinkling a bit more than normal. both incidents although somewhat similar are caught on video and enlarged. after enlarging the videos they appear to be similar to a childs toy jack and tumbling erratically with some lateral movement". (video taken)

In this particular case, there is a video to back up the statement, and I have to say, while I'm no expert, it seems pretty compelling to me.

Here's what this witness reports seeing, "I noticed a stationary bright light over the water while driving. i pointed it out to my granddaughter who acknowledged it was strange. i tried to get it on video but dropped my phone and couldn't find it. then when almost home we saw another and it didn't look like it was along. there were some clouds but i noticed blinking lights around the solid object, i know for sure they were not planes because they moved only around the larger object and a plane did fly by. the objects were only white lights while the plane has a flashing red light so i know the difference". (photo taken)

It's hard to get passed the dropped phone part of this one, but if you can, you hear some amazing stuff. It's hard for me to think it's completely made up. But at some point, a photo was taken.

This witness has reported before, and says this, "I have sent a few reports and still saw the object. today i took a video of the same area as reference so u can see its not always there". (video/photos taken).

The video is there. You be the judge.

There are lots of things we see in the sky. Some we can identify, some we can't. I personally am a fan of the "if there's smoke there's fire" theory and think that all it takes is one truly unidentified object up there and the conversation must remain open.
