When it comes to amazing dining options, Monmouth County isn't lacking. It's about time one of our more unassuming eateries got some pub!

Only In Your State did a spotlight on Val's Tavern in Rumson, and they were spot on.

Val's is a perfect example of how you can't always judge a book by its cover.

To the passer-by, Val's looks like just another house. That couldn't be further from the truth. There is quite a bit of history in the tiny tavern. It's been a Monmouth County staple since 1942.

Val's does many things right, but their pizza is the bomb.

Whether it's traditional Grandma's Pie like this:

Val's slices are perfect. The crust is not too thick, and not too thin. They found perfection.

You can even customize your perfection. The 'build-your-own' pie option is Val's most popular menu item. That's closely followed by their creamy Penne Alla Vodka and Buffalo Chicken Wrap.

It's a great place to watch a game or listen to some really good live music. If you're looking for a night of drinking, Val's is perfect. If you want to sit down for a meal, Val's is also perfect.

Thankfully, Val's has managed to adapt during the pandemic and is offering pick-up and delivery.
