The super energizing and outstanding rookie for the New York Yankees, Oswaldo Cabrera, a switch hitter who can play six positions and loves every moment is giving back and inspiring young ballplayers.

On Sunday afternoon, a little league team from Asbury Park arrived at Sportsnut Cards & Collectibles in Belmar thinking it was an opportunity to get some baseball cards and be there with their coach and team.

The event organizer of this wonderful day, Frank Luna, had a special idea in mind in setting this up though -- having Oswaldo Cabrera surprise this little league team with a very special meet and greet.

"I always love this, I love the way that (they) come to me and we show them all the love, especially with the kids here, and you see how they love me -- every-time I come (to one of these signings), it's special," Cabrera tells Townsquare Media News.

Cabrera then took the time out to meet with each ballplayer, take pictures, and provide some advice on how to shoot for their dreams.

"Never stop dreaming -- that's my best tip that I say all the time," Cabrera said. "I was a dreamer when I was young and I'm here now. I never stop dreaming."

Cabrera was a spark-plug when he was called up to the show at a time in the season where the Yankees were battling injuries and struggling offensively -- outside of Aaron Judge -- and hit ability to be a switch-hitter and hit for contact, a little bit of pop, and on the other side, play stellar defense at six different positions put him on the map and he's going to be a star in this league.

For Cabrera, just being up in the Major Leagues playing ball with the Yankees means the world to him.

"That's a dream, that's the dream that I was working for, I was working so hard when I was young, when I signed, and, this year the Yankees got the opportunity to bring me up to the team and I feel blessed," Cabrera said.

What his role and where in 2023 will be a daily question answered when Yankees manager Aaron Boone pencils in the lineup card, but, you can be sure to see him out there somewhere and he's excited for the opportunities ahead.

"I'm working so hard right now to improve myself," Cabrera said. "I just want to be ready for the manager and the coaches for when they need me for the game."

After meeting with a little league team from Asbury Park, Cabrera went down the street in Belmar to Current Rehab & Performance to meet Yankees fans of all ages.

They enjoyed meeting him as much as he enjoyed meeting them.
