You Won’t Believe What Ran Across Route 37 in Toms River, NJ
So you are thinking, what ran out in front of Shawn on Route 37 in Toms River? Well first let's go back to Friday Morning as I was heading to Seaside Park for our first "Beach" broadcast at our beautiful RWJ Barnabas Health Seaside Park Studios....
It was about 5 am this past Friday morning and I was heading on Route 37 East, I was between Clifton Avenue and Washington Street when all of a sudden deer ran out and crossed the entire width of Route 37 before running off. The deer went left to right across 37 and right in front of my car. Imagine what it would have been like if there was more traffic? Luckily it was pretty deserted and I was able to brake.

Now I have been driving Route 37 in Toms River for about 38 years now and I have NEVER seen a deer even on the side of Route 37, let alone a few running across the entire width of the highway. I must admit I was shocked and also glad I was watching the road good because if not, well we all know it can get ugly quick when dealing with deer and high speeds. Route 37 traffic moves quickly and at around 50 mph …..well I’m just glad I was safe and so were they.
Have you seen deer on Route 37? Maybe more likely further west towards Manchester and Lakehurst, but I’m talking on the way to Seaside Heights lol crazy …… keep your eyes open and on the road, especially after sunset and early dawn. Be careful out there.
